"hunger bytes!" – An International Video Competition for inspired film makers
This year the world is reaching an historic milestone – and not a good one. By the end of 2009, over 1 billion people will be suffering from hunger. In a world of 6.8 billion, that means 1 out of 7 people will soon be undernourished.
What does this mean for our world?
14,000 children die from hunger-related causes every day.
Every 6 seconds a child dies from hunger.
1 billion people around the world wake up hungry every day.
hunger bites - everywhere!
Hunger is a global problem – the hungry billion need your help.
For the second year, WFP has launched hunger bytes! the international video competition aimed at raising awareness about the world’s hunger crises.
We need you to make the edgiest, most provocative videos about hunger. Whatever it takes to make people think, and to change attitudes.
Whatever your style of film-making, share it with the world – anything goes…
It’s time to bite back!
Starting October 16 –World Food Day- you will be able to submit your videos. The most viewed videos will become "hunger bytes!" nominees and will go on to be judged by a panel of celebrity judges from the film industry. The competition ends at midnight December 31, 2009.
