GIN Service Project #1:
GINDO Conference in Jakarta held on May 16, organized by my high school group, "20/20 Club" which aims to solve 20 global issues in 20 years. The GINDO conference is an oppurtunity for other students from national plus schools across Indonesia to spend a day learning about global issues and how they are affecting the world and what they can do to help make the change and to help be the change. The GINDO Conference (Global Issues Network - Indonesia) is going to be a conference opened for 150 students.
Who is someone who inspires you? And why?
A person that inspires me is Mahatma Gandhi. Even though he did not really make an environmental change, he led his country to independence through his methods and philosophy of nonviolent confrontation and he also inspired many people to be the change they want to see in the world and to make the difference as well as to be treated the way they want to be treated. I take his philosophy in the very same way but want to apply it to the environment and that people should treat the environment the way they want to be treated and they should start to make the changes now before it’s too late, to stop littering, to spread awareness and to stop global warming before its too late. Therefore Mahatma Gandhi is my ideal inspiration.
