Hi Justin - sounds exciting. What do you have in mind to raise awareness? A carbon footprint is a good start. Find out what part of your lifestyle creates the most CO2. A good rule of thumb however would be, buy locally produced goods (less transport and supports your local economy), unpackaged goods (less plastic which is made from oil) and less processed goods/foods (again less transport and oil used in the processig).
Good luck

Hey guys, my name is Justin Au, I am a student of Chinese International School, located in Hong Kong. Me and a few peers have decided to initiate a group to raise awareness for Global Warming and its implications.

I find it ironic how though we as inhabitants of the Earth are all clearly aware of the preceding dilemma(s) that Global Warming presents, or has already caused. Yet we choose to simply watch and to rely on others to somehow find a cure, a change, a miracle per say to reverse all the damage which has been done in the previous years through events such as the technological revolution, the rapid development of China, India, etc... We have to come to a realization that though what we do in the present will not endanger our own lives, it will definitely compromise the future generations.

This would be a good start, however as a society we need to look at alternative energy sources that are renewable/replenishable. Combine with this a large decrease in our dependence on oil and other fossil fuels.
Cleraly we need to lobby governments to demand more alternative fuel options and tax fossil fuels. People unfortunately only begin to change when it hits their wallet. I can;t wait for the $200 a barel of oil price. Believe me, we will take alternative energies seriously. Suddenly wind and solar will be available.
Secondly, we can't wait for governments or the price of oil to go up. We need to make 'fossil fuel - free" or 'fossil fuel - reduced' choices in what we buy. Use more public transport, cycle, and cut down on the amount of plastic we buy. Not only is it made from oil, but it causes serious pollution.

I think a big problem right now related to global warming is the amount of energy that we're wasting right now. Not only does the energy we waste contribute to the excess amount of fossil fuels being burnt in factories but in the long run, the energy we waste will affect our future. What's going to happen when we run out of energy? So right now I believe we should learn how to reserve and reduce the amount of energy that the world uses. But how, of course is the biggest problem I think.
