Welcome to the Global Issues Conference 2010

Welcome to the Global Issues Conference 2010

Know, Care, Act! – GIN March 19th – 21st Conference Structure

This year’s GIN Conference will retain many of the familiar elements of our previous events and will introduce new ways for students to participate and communicate their passion for Global Issues.

How many Students can attend the GIN Conference from one school?

Schools can bring up to 15 students with two accompanying facilitators. This change has been made to enable schools to obtain group air tickets and lower the cost of travelling to the Conference.

The Film.

Each school is to submit a film of up to 3 minutes long before the conference starts. A panel of judges made up of professionals and peers will assess how each film develops the Conference theme of Know, Care, Act! The best films will be shown to the entire conference before and after the Key Note Addresses and all films will be shown during the conference.

Team Presentations

Each school will have the option of giving a 30-minute presentation on a Global Issue that they are working on. A sign up sheet will be issued to schools closer to the date. Schools are asked to provide an interactive presentation that uses the conference theme of Know, Care, Act!

Core Workshops

Students will move through the four Core Workshop during the Conference, these will be large group interactive simulations.

Global Village Groups

The Global Village Groups will allow students to debrief their presentation. and discuss experiential workshops.

Key Events for Schools to Prepare for

1. Decide on your film
2. Decide if you wish to provide a 30 minute team presentation on a global Issue that you are working on at school

"hunger bytes!" – An International Video Competition for inspired film makers

This year the world is reaching an historic milestone – and not a good one. By the end of 2009, over 1 billion people will be suffering from hunger. In a world of 6.8 billion, that means 1 out of 7 people will soon be undernourished.

What does this mean for our world?

14,000 children die from hunger-related causes every day.
Every 6 seconds a child dies from hunger.
1 billion people around the world wake up hungry e… Continue
